Postdoctoral Research Grant in CircularTech Impact Assessment at University of Porto

The Faculty of Engineering at the University of Porto (FEUP) is offering a Postdoctoral Research Grant within the CircularTech Agenda, focusing on impact assessment in waste smart management. This opportunity is funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and European Funds NextGeneration EU, as part of the Incentive System 'Agendas for Business Innovation.' The research will be conducted in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, under the scientific supervision of Professor Vera Lúcia Miguéis Oliveira e Silva, with a selection jury including Professors Jorge Daniel Grenha Luís Teixeira, Maria Beatriz Brito Oliveira, Maria Henriqueta Dourado Eusébio Sampaio da Nóvoa, and José Pedro Coelho Rodrigues. The project aims to explore consumer behavior regarding circular economy practices, specifically within the scope of WP8 'Waste Smart Management.' Key activities include analyzing the characteristics of various re-use services, evaluating their environmental impact, and disseminating and exploiting research findings. The research is interdisciplinary, bridging industrial engineering, environmental science, and nutrition, and is designed to contribute to sustainable business innovation. Applicants must hold a PhD in Food Consumption and Nutrition Sciences, obtained within the last three years, and must conduct their postdoctoral research at a host entity different from where their PhD was completed. The scholarship duration is until 30/06/2026, with a minimum of three consecutive months, and is renewable but cannot exceed the project's conclusion date. The monthly stipend is 1851,00€, paid by bank transfer, in accordance with the FCT grant table. The selection process involves a curricular evaluation (academic profile, participation in relevant R&D projects, publications, and motivation letter) and an interview for candidates scoring at least 12 points in the curricular component. The final ranking combines CV evaluation (60%) and interview (40%), with a minimum final score of 18 points required for award. The results will be communicated by email to applicants.
