Master’s-level Biostatistician Position in Biomedical and Clinical Research at University of Utah
The Study Design & Biostatistics Center (SDBC) at the University of Utah is seeking a highly motivated Master’s-level biostatistician to join a dynamic team of approximately 30 biostatisticians and epidemiologists. The successful candidate will collaborate with clinical and translational researchers on high-impact biomedical and clinical research projects, particularly within the Adam Bress Lab. Research areas include causal inference, target trial emulation, comparative effectiveness, and survival analysis, with a focus on evaluating antihypertensive treatments and outcomes such as cardiovascular disease, dementia, and cancer using both randomized trials and large-scale electronic health record (EHR) data.
Key responsibilities involve study design, statistical analysis, data management, and the development of reproducible code pipelines in R. The role also includes writing analysis plans, preparing reports and manuscripts, and communicating statistical findings to diverse research teams. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field, with strong proficiency in R programming and experience managing large datasets. Experience with target trial emulation, causal inference, and comparative effectiveness research is highly desirable. Additional skills in Python, AI-assisted tools, and version control (e.g., Git) are preferred.
The position offers a competitive salary range ($47,600–$90,400), full University of Utah employee benefits, and the possibility of hybrid or fully remote work for Utah residents. The SDBC provides a supportive academic environment with mentorship from PhD-level biostatisticians and opportunities for professional development. The University of Utah is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and encourages applications from candidates with a strong commitment to improving access to higher education.
Applications are accepted online through the University of Utah employment portal. The deadline for applications is March 2, 2026, but priority review begins December 2, 2025. For more information, visit the official job posting or contact University Human Resources.
