The University of Alberta's Faculty of Engineering, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Olubukola Alimi, is inviting applications for the IBET PhD Fellowship for Fall 2026. This prestigious fellowship is specifically designed to support motivated Black and Indigenous Canadian citizens and permanent residents who wish to pursue full-time PhD studies in Environmental Engineering. The IBET Fellowship offers $30,000 per year for four years, providing both academic and industry mentorship to help students build impactful research careers in engineering.

Professor Alimi's research group focuses on the fate, transport, and environmental impacts of emerging contaminants, including microplastics and nanoplastics. The research has applications in aquatic natural and engineered systems, as well as in understanding exposure pathways related to everyday and industrial products.
