We are seeking a Postdoctoral researcher to join the AI in Orthopaedics (AIO) group at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the TUM University Hospital . The position focuses on advanced medical image analysis in musculoskeletal medicine, with opportunities to take on scientific leadership responsibilities.

The AIO group is part of the Department of Orthopaedics and Sports Orthopaedics and the Institute for AI and Informatics in Medicine . We work at the intersection of artificial intelligence, medical imaging, and clinical practice , developing methods that directly benefit patient care.


Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in medical image analysis with focus on musculoskeletal medicine.
  • Collaborate closely with clinicians to ensure clinical relevance and translational impact.
  • Take on scientific leadership within the imaging research area, supporting strategic development with the group leader and chair.
  • Contribute to research proposals and funding applications.
  • Publish and present findings in international journals and conferences.
  • Supervise and mentor junior researchers and students.

Profile
  • PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong expertise in medical imaging and/or machine learning.
  • Excellent programming and research skills.
  • Interest in translational research and interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians.
  • Experience with project coordination, supervision, or grant writing is a plus.
  • Excellent English and German.
