About this position

The University of Montreal, in partnership with the Centre de recherche du CHUM (CRCHUM), is seeking applications for an assistant or associate professor-researcher position in neuroscience, with a focus on neural regeneration, stem cells, and spinal cord pathologies. The Neuroscience Axis of the CRCHUM is committed to elucidating the biological, environmental, and social mechanisms underlying nervous system diseases and developing innovative therapies. The department brings together 20 regular researchers, including 11 clinician scientists, working across five main research themes: neurodegeneration/neurorepair, neuroimmunology, epilepsy, neurovascular disorders, and addiction/mental health. The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Montreal comprises over 140 experts in basic and clinical neuroscience, offering integrated education at undergraduate, master, and doctorate levels, and leading medical training in neurology at both doctoral and postdoctoral levels.

The selected candidate will be expected to develop an independent, competitive, and original research program, foster collaborations with clinicians and researchers, and contribute to teaching and supervision at all university levels. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent, have postdoctoral experience in neuroscience related to central nervous system diseases, and possess a strong research record. Expertise in stem cell technologies, genomics, gene therapy, optogenetics, imaging, or neural network analysis is preferred. Candidates must be able to teach, supervise students, and collaborate within the institution. Sufficient knowledge of French or a commitment to learn it is required.
