PhD opportunity to push the frontiers of ceramic materials research, where science meets imaging at the micrometer scale. This isn’t just a PhD—it’s a deep dive into the real-time 3D world of how materials break under extreme heat.
?? PhD Position Open – Experimental Imaging of Fracture in Ceramics
?? CNRS – PPRIME Institute (Poitiers, France)
In the heart of the EU-funded THEFRAMIC project, you'll develop groundbreaking experimental setups to observe how microcracks grow and interact during thermal shock events. Using X-ray tomography, digital volume correlation, and high-speed thermal tests, your work will help shape the digital twins of ceramic fracture behavior.
?? If you’re passionate about:
Cracking complex mechanical problems (pun intended),
Working with cutting-edge imaging tools (think synchrotrons like SOLEIL and ESRF),
Collaborating with global leaders like Saint-Gobain and SAFRAN...
…then this PhD might just be your next chapter.
?? Eligibility: MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics.
?? Bonus: curiosity, experimental drive, and a love for seeing the unseen.
?? Start: Fall 2025
?? Mobility, mentoring, and industry connections included.
?? Ready to shape the future of ceramic design?
