Are you passionate about exploring the intersections of data, technology, and democracy? The University of Amsterdam's Department of Media Studies is offering three fully funded PhD positions as part of a groundbreaking interdisciplinary project led by Stefania Milan and funded by the European Research Council.
?? About the Project: This multi-year research initiative delves into how data infrastructures are reshaping governance and democratic practices. Each PhD candidate will focus on one of four critical domains: biometric tech, digital identity systems, health or education tech
?? What We Offer:
A four-year fully funded PhD contract (including tuition fee waiver)
Access to professional development and training programs
A collaborative and international research environment
Opportunities for qualitative fieldwork, policy analysis, and public engagement
Dedicated travel funds for conferences and workshops
?? Who We're Looking For: Candidates with a Master's or Research Master's degree in fields such as sociology, media studies, anthropology, public policy, politics, STS, information systems, or related disciplines. Ideal applicants are curious, self-motivated, and eager to engage in interdisciplinary research that addresses contemporary societal challenges.
