A fully-funded PhD studentship is available in the group of Professor David Bechtold at the University of Manchester, in collaboration with Gina Galli and David Gatfield (University of Lausanne). The project focuses on understanding how selective ribosome function and translational control influence both cellular and whole body energy metabolism, and how disruptions in these processes can lead to poor metabolic health. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with leading researchers in the field and undertake research placements in Switzerland with the Gatfield group.

The position is based in Manchester and offers a dynamic, collaborative research environment. Applicants should have a strong background in biological sciences, molecular biology, or biochemistry, and laboratory experience is desirable.
