The Electric Machines Lab at the Georgia Institute of Technology is recruiting multiple fully funded PhD students to join research in electric machines and power electronics. The lab, led by Professor Baoyun Ge, focuses on several cutting-edge areas: harnessing wattage for electrification, sustainable design of electric machines, innovation in machine design methodology, and research at the intersection of electric machines and artificial intelligence.

One of the open PhD positions centers on very-high-speed electric machinery, with a preference for candidates who have experience in machine design. The lab's research spans topics such as advanced control of electric machines, magnetic material modeling, and the development of new electric machines and power converters. These areas are highly interdisciplinary, involving engineering, physics, computer science, and mathematics.

Electric machines are critical to modern society, powering the grid, industrial automation, electric vehicles, and robotics.
