About this position

The University of Namur is offering a half-time Teaching & Research Assistant position in Economics (PhD-track) within its Department of Economics. This unique opportunity combines teaching and research responsibilities, with teaching duties split between the Bachelor’s programme and the Specialized Master in International Economics and Development (SMIDE). The position is open to candidates from all fields of economics, with a preference for those interested in macroeconomics. Research will be conducted within one of the department’s research centers, part of the DEFIPP Research Institute.

The contract is a 50% assistantship, which may be complemented by an additional 50% researcher contract. The University of Namur is a vibrant academic community, welcoming around 8,000 students annually and offering a wide range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programmes. The Faculty of Economics, Management, Communication and Political Sciences (EMCP) is home to approximately 1,400 students and is known for its collaborative programmes with the University of Louvain (ESL).

Applicants must hold or expect to hold by June or September 2026 a Master’s degree in Economics (or equivalent) with honours. A strong command of both French and English is required, as well as demonstrated teaching skills and a commitment to developing an original research programme leading to a doctoral degree in Economics and Management. The successful candidate will be expected to start on October 1, 2026.
