About this position

Looking for a PhD student
I am looking for a PhD student for a research project funded by Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation at Georgia Southern College of Engineering & Computing Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project focuses on material degradation under fire conditions, using in-house heat and mass transfer solvers based on Finite Volume Method, and/or ANSYS Fluent.
Required Qualifications
A master’s degree in mechanical engineering, fire Protection, chemical engineering, materials engineering, manufacturing, and physics or a related field.
Strong knowledge of numerical modeling
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Julia, Python, MATLAB, C, Fortran or similar).
Experience with open source Finite Volume Method (FVM) tools and Ansys Fluent.
Preferred if person has experience in heat and mass transfer, chemical kinetics and combustion simulation in porous media.
