About this position

We are seeking a PhD candidate to undertake and exciting project in the area of:
Biofluidic neuro-biomarkers for stress detection.

The objectives of this project are:
To determine molecular signatures of the stress response in individuals subjected to a neurophysiological stressor.
These molecular signatures could include:
Proteomic, Metabolomic and/or miRNA profiles / targets using protocols developed as part of our broader "Performance Patch Project"; and
Epigenetic methylation markers using protocols developed by Prof Divya Mehta’s laboratory.
The specific project hypotheses and aims will be developed in consultation with the student at the beginning of the project.

Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a PhD candidate with the following skills:
Demonstrated research experience in the field of either molecular biology, biochemistry, metabolomics or genomics, or similar field.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Demonstrated time and project management skills.
Demonstrated ability to write research reports or other publications to a publishable standard (even if not published to date).

An additional external co-supervisor from the collaborating institutions may be appointed depending on the specific requirements of the project.

The PhD candidate will be enrolled in the PhD program within the School of Biomedical Sciences, Queensland University of Technology.
