?? Materials Also Need Sleep – Next Generation High-Performance and Sustainable Composites
Are you ready to reimagine the future of sustainable composite materials? Join our team in a VIDI project exploring how nature’s concept of hibernation can make composite structures more resilient, ductile, and circular.
We are looking for two outstanding PhD candidates to join us at TU Delft:
?? PhD 1 – Multiscale Modelling & Design
Design fibre-reinforced architectures and use AI/FEM to model their behaviour across scales.
?? PhD 2 – Advanced Manufacturing & Characterisation
Translate modelling concepts into hybrid composites, combining thermoplastic/thermoset matrices and leveraging 3D printing and AFP to develop next-gen durable structures.
?? Example applications: Wind turbine blades, offshore composite joints
You’ll work within a vibrant, interdisciplinary team with access to world-class facilities and supervision from experts across Mechanical, Civil & Aerospace Engineering.
