Ghent University, a leading institution in Belgium, is offering a full-time PhD Assistant position in Communication Management within the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Department of Communication Sciences. This role is designed for candidates passionate about academic research and teaching in the domains of communication management and persuasive communication. At least half of your assignment will be dedicated to research in preparation for a doctoral dissertation, while the remainder involves assisting with teaching activities and departmental services.
The position is ideal for those with a strong background in social sciences, particularly communication sciences. Applicants must hold a Master's degree in social sciences (preferably communication sciences) by the start of the appointment. For degrees awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required. Candidates should demonstrate interest in academic and/or project-based research, and any prior teaching experience or participation in training or conferences is advantageous. Proficiency in a wide range of social-scientific research methods, especially experimental research, is considered an asset. Excellent teaching and communication skills, as well as fluency in both Dutch and English, are mandatory.
The appointment is for two years, with the possibility of renewal twice for two years each, subject to positive evaluations, up to a maximum of six years. Remuneration follows salary scale AAP3, and staff members benefit from extensive training opportunities, 36 days of paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, ecocheques, and more. The earliest possible start date is March 1, 2026.
