The University of Copenhagen is offering a PhD fellowship or postdoctoral position in brain tumor bioinformatics at the Biotech Research and Innovation Center (BRIC), commencing March 2026. The successful candidate will join Professor Bjarne Winther Kristensen’s research group, which focuses on understanding how the tumor microenvironment influences brain tumor aggressiveness and therapy response, with a particular emphasis on glioblastoma. The group employs advanced bioinformatics and cutting-edge spatial transcriptomics technologies to analyze tumor cells and their microenvironment in both patient samples and animal models, correlating findings with clinical outcomes.

The research environment is highly collaborative and international, providing excellent opportunities for academic and research career growth. The main tasks involve integrative analysis of genomics and neuro-oncology data, with a strong emphasis on computational and translational research. Candidates will work with multi-disciplinary teams and have access to modern laboratories and spatial analysis platforms.

Applicants must hold an MD or a master’s degree in a relevant field such as human biology, neuroimmunology, or bioinformatics for the PhD position, or a PhD in a related area for the postdoc. The degree must be equivalent to a Danish two-year master’s. Documented experience in the project area, such as data analysis of high-plex spatial transcriptomics, single-cell/nuclei RNA sequencing, or proficiency in R or Python, is required. Additional selection criteria include GPA, professional qualifications, previous publications, relevant work experience, other professional activities, a strong interest in brain tumor biology, and language skills.

The position is full-time and fixed-term for three years, with salary and employment conditions following Danish Region’s guidelines. The application deadline is 31 December 2025.
