About this position

The Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) invites applications for a PhD position in Education, focusing on the design and validation of a rapid screening instrument for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in school populations. This research project, funded by Fundación CajaCanarias and Fundación Bancaria La Caixa, aims to improve early identification and educational support strategies for students with neurodevelopmental conditions, contributing to greater inclusion and equity in education.

The successful candidate will join the Faculty of Education Sciences at ULPGC and collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team. Key responsibilities include data collection in early childhood, primary, and secondary schools using mobile devices, conducting data analysis at ULPGC facilities, reviewing literature on ASD, ADHD, and educational assessment instruments, preparing scientific articles, and supporting the development and validation of the screening tool.

The position is part-time (20 hours per week), with a working schedule from Monday to Friday, 09:00–14:00. The monthly salary is €1,006.31, and the contract is initially for up to 21 months, with the project running until 1 May 2028. The role offers valuable experience in educational research, psychometric instrument development, and scientific publication, within a context of educational inclusion and neurodevelopmental assessment.

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent, with foreign degrees requiring official Spanish translation and recognition/equivalence. Candidates must meet nationality, legal residence, and work authorization requirements, possess physical and functional capacity, and have no disciplinary record or disqualification from public employment. A good command of Spanish is required. Non-EU candidates must secure a work permit and visa before contract formalization.
