Funding
This is a fully funded four-year PhD position under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network. The salary ranges from €3,059 to €3,881 gross per month (full-time, 38 hours/week), with additional benefits including 41 days of paid leave, 8% holiday pay, 8.3% end-of-year bonus, pension contributions, relocation support, and professional development opportunities. The contract is initially for one year, extendable for three more years upon satisfactory performance.

Requirements
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (MSc, MA, or equivalent) in governance studies, migration studies, public administration, political sociology, or policy studies. Candidates must not have resided or conducted their main activity in the Netherlands for more than 12 months in the 36 months before the start date (1 September 2026), per MSCA-DN mobility rules. Candidates must not have previously completed or defended a PhD. Proficiency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of Dutch and Spanish is a plus. Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, and academic writing skills, experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research, and a commitment to interdisciplinary, collaborative research. Willingness for international mobility and participation in network activities is expected. A record of scholarly publications is an advantage.
