PhD in Inclusive Leadership and Workforce Diversity in Global Sport Loughborough University in United Kingdom

PhD opportunity at Loughborough University in inclusive leadership, workforce diversity, sport leadership, gender equality, and social justice. The project, titled “Towards Inclusive Leadership: Examining Leadership and Workforce Diversity in Global Sport”, is closely aligned with UNESCO’s Sport Alliance, Fit for Life, and focuses on strengthening the evidence base for diversity, equity, and inclusion in global sport leadership.

This is a fully funded 3-year PhD based at Loughborough University, with a start date in October 2026. The opportunity is for UK applicants only. The project aims to inform policy, practice, and system change across the sport sector, and is connected to research infrastructure including UNESCO-related work, women in sport, and policy expertise.

Entry requirements: a 2:1 or 1st class undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a sport-related and/or social science subject. A Merit or Distinction postgraduate degree in a sport-related subject, social science, and/or research methods is desirable. Strong qualitative research skills, experience in the sport industry or sport for development, and a strong understanding of social justice are highlighted as preferred.
