Additional support is provided by the GraduateCenter, including help with accommodation, visa matters, and registration procedures.

Applicants must hold a qualifying degree (minimum 240 ECTS, typically 8 semesters) and demonstrate English proficiency (EU B2, IELTS 5–6.5, TOEFL 87+ or equivalent). A strong academic record, scientific motivation, a full research proposal with sufficient funding, and two academic referees are required. The application period runs annually from 1 December to 31 January, with all applications submitted via the MMRS online portal.

While the programme does not offer direct scholarships or stipends, LMU provides various funding opportunities such as travel and completion grants. Tuition fees are waived, but students pay a semester contribution (85 EUR) and cover living costs (1,000–1,200 EUR/month). The International Office assists with accommodation, and rooms in shared flats are available on the private market.
