Radboud University Medical Center (Radboudumc) in the Netherlands is offering a fully funded PhD position focused on developing novel immunotherapeutic strategies for pediatric mature B-cell Non-Hodgkin lymphomas, specifically Burkitt lymphoma. The project aims to reduce treatment-related toxicity by creating antibody-based immunofilaments that induce tumor cell death without chemotherapy. This research is part of a Kika-funded collaboration with Dr. Friederike Meyer-Wentrup at the Princess Máxima Center.

The successful candidate will join the Department of Medical BioSciences, a multidisciplinary team specializing in cell biology, immunology, and translational cancer research. The department is known for its work on dendritic cells, lymphocytes, and anti-tumor immunity, and is embedded in a vibrant, multicultural research environment with access to advanced technology platforms such as genomics, proteomics, and imaging.

Key research activities include developing and characterizing antibody-based immunofilaments, deciphering mechanisms of tumor cell death, validating therapeutic efficacy in vivo, and studying the tumor microenvironment using patient samples. The project is highly translational, with the goal of improving outcomes and reducing toxicity for children with B-cell Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in biomedical sciences, medical biology, or a closely related field. Experience with (immune) cell biological techniques is required. A permit to work with animals, or willingness to obtain one, is advantageous. Candidates should be creative, motivated, and able to work collaboratively. Proficiency in English is expected.

Funding: The position is fully funded for four years, with a starting salary of €3,108 per month (full-time, scale 10A, step 0), rising to €3,939 per month (scale 10A, step 3).
