The Department of Phoniatrics & Pediatric Audiology at Universitätsklinikum Münster (UKM), Germany, is offering a fully funded PhD position as part of a DFG-funded research project. The project, titled “Timing Difficulties in Developmental Language Disorder and Stuttering: The Role of Altered Brain-Rhythm Synchronization,” focuses on using advanced neuroscience methods, including magnetoencephalography (MEG), to improve diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of stuttering and developmental language disorders.

This international research collaboration involves the University Hospital Münster, CoBIC Frankfurt/Main, Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences (Leipzig), and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The successful candidate will engage in MEG data collection, behavioral testing, data analysis (using Matlab/Python), brain–speech interaction modeling, connectivity and synchronicity analysis, conference presentations, and scientific publications. The position offers exposure to an international research network and elite scientific training in advanced neuroscience methods.

Eligibility: Applicants must have a Master’s degree in neuroscience, linguistics, cognitive science, psychology, or a related field. Strong Matlab or Python skills and experience with M/EEG data are required. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for interdisciplinary science, empathy, strong communication skills, and an interest in clinical and cognitive neuroscience. Proficiency in German at the C1 level is mandatory.
