Funding details

The PhD positions are fully funded for up to 5 years. Employment is full-time with a fixed salary. Funding is provided by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and Uppsala University. The positions include social benefits and may involve up to 20% teaching or administrative duties.

What's required

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree (second-cycle) in engineering physics, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, or a similar field, or have completed at least 240 credits in higher education with at least 60 credits at Master’s level including an independent project worth at least 15 credits, or have acquired substantially equivalent knowledge. Strong interest in control theory and applied mathematics, good communication skills in English, excellent study results, and personal characteristics such as creativity, thoroughness, and a structured approach to problem-solving are essential. Additional qualifications include experience in control theory, linear/nonlinear control, robust control, statistical learning, optimization, system identification, and game theory.
