Interdisciplinary Transformation University (IT:U) in Austria invites applications for a PhD Student position in Computational Medicine and Health Data Science. As Austria’s first public interdisciplinary university dedicated to digital transformation, IT:U offers a unique environment for research at the intersection of medicine, data science, and informatics. The successful candidate will join the IT:U Doctoral School’s PhD Program COMPUTATIONAL X, working under the supervision of Professor Spiros Denaxas.

This four-year, full-time position is based in Linz, Austria, with a start date in March 2026. The research will focus on leveraging electronic health records (EHR) to understand disease mechanisms, multimorbidity, and patient journeys. The project aims to synthesize international findings, identify comorbidity patterns, and develop anticipatory models for healthcare planning. Candidates will explore advanced computational methods, utilize biomedical ontologies, and contribute to the development of enriched multimorbidity networks.

The position offers a multidisciplinary lab environment with strong international collaborations, including opportunities for short research stays in the UK. Fluency in English (CEFR C1 or equivalent) and Python is essential. The position offers a competitive gross salary starting from EUR 3,714.80 per month (full-time, 40h) and includes the Austrian KlimaTicket Ö for unlimited public transportation within Austria.
