About this position

Eindhoven University of Technology, a leading institution in the Netherlands, is offering a postdoctoral position in the Control Systems Group within the Department of Electrical Engineering. The successful candidate will join the Carefree Models Project, a large-scale initiative focused on enhancing the resilience, efficiency, and sustainability of predictive models in process industries.

The project addresses key challenges in Industry 4.0, such as sensor drift, process variations, and system changes, by developing frameworks for automated maintenance, adaptation, and transfer of predictive models. The postdoc will lead the development of Model Predictive Control (MPC) strategies for industrial drying processes, integrating self-updating and adaptive predictive models into real-world operations. Responsibilities include collaborating with academic and industrial partners, validating models on real-world data, and contributing to a scalable Industry 4.0 framework.

The position offers full-time employment for two years, with a competitive salary (scale 10), year-end and vacation bonuses, and various allowances. International candidates benefit from a tax compensation scheme and moving expense support. Applicants must have a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Control Engineering, Process Systems Engineering, or a related field, with strong expertise in MPC and process modeling. Familiarity with industrial drying processes and proficiency in optimization and simulation tools (MATLAB, Python, gProms) are desirable.

The role requires excellent English communication skills, teamwork, leadership, and project management abilities. The university provides a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment, high-quality training, and support for personal and professional development. Applications should be submitted online, including a cover letter, CV, references, and a list of five best publications. The vacancy remains open until filled, with a formal deadline of November 30, 2025.
