About this position

The University of Luxembourg is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a position in Verification, Validation & Perception for Robotics, based at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The successful candidate will join the Space Robotics (SpaceR) research group, collaborating with Redwire Space Luxembourg, and will play a leading role in projects focused on AI-enabled space-borne perception systems for robotic proximity operations.

The research group is highly interdisciplinary and international, with over 23 members, and offers state-of-the-art facilities including the LunaLab, Zero-G Lab, and Robotic Manipulation Lab. The postdoc will develop and lead a V&V framework for AI-augmented perception systems, contribute to hardware-in-the-loop emulation of on-orbit scenarios, and support PhD candidates. Responsibilities include investigating V&V techniques for space systems, developing novel methods for characterizing and quantifying performance and safety properties of perception systems, generating operational conditions, informing certification processes, and leading SITL/HITL test campaigns.

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field (Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical/Electrical/Aerospace Engineering), expertise in machine learning, computer vision, V&V, formal methods, or safety engineering, and experience with Python, C++, PyTorch, ROS, and robotic experiments. A strong publication record and fluency in English are required. The position offers a fixed-term contract for 24 months with a gross annual salary of EUR 85,176, and is located at the Kirchberg Campus.

The University of Luxembourg values diversity and inclusion, and encourages early online applications through its HR system. For more information, visit the SpaceR group and Redwire Space Luxembourg websites.
