Description

This postdoctoral position at Radboud University, located in the Netherlands, is offered within the Work, Health and Performance research group of the Faculty of Social Sciences. The role centers on investigating how workplace communication—both leader communication and digital practices—affects employee health and wellbeing. The successful candidate will develop two interconnected research lines: one using automated text analysis to study how leaders communicate health and safety priorities and their impact on organizational outcomes, and another examining digital communication among colleagues, especially how email exchanges shape work-life boundary norms and relate to performance pressure and mental health. The position involves designing and conducting studies, performing rigorous analyses, and interpreting results to advance both theoretical and practical understanding. The postdoc will actively publish in international journals, present at conferences, and collaborate with colleagues within and beyond Radboud University. The research environment is interdisciplinary and collaborative, with opportunities to expand the research scope and contribute personal expertise. Teaching may be arranged for up to 20% of employment hours, depending on interest and suitability. Applicants should hold (or be close to obtaining) a PhD in a relevant field such as organizational psychology, communication science, management science, or social psychology. Required skills include statistical research methods, survey-based research, experimental design, and preferably automated text analysis; candidates without the latter must have R/Python experience and be willing to learn. Strong project management, communication, collaboration, and English language skills are essential. The contract is for two years, with a gross monthly salary between €4,728 and €6,433, plus holiday and end-of-year bonuses, dual career coaching, flexible working hours, generous annual leave, pension plan, and discounts on sports and cultural activities. The Work, Health and Performance Group conducts innovative research on work behavior, health, and performance, aiming for significant theoretical and societal impact. The Behavioural Science Institute (BSI) at Radboud University is an interdisciplinary hub for research on societal issues, known for its graduate school and commitment to open and team science. The Faculty of Social Sciences focuses on human behavior, education, communication, and culture, with research organized across several institutes. Radboud University is committed to inclusivity, high-quality research, and societal impact. Applications should be submitted online, addressed to Dr. Laura Fruhen, with interviews scheduled for late November and early December. The preferred start date is February 2026.
