The University of British Columbia (UBC), Vancouver, is offering highly competitive postdoctoral fellowships through the Canada Impact+ Research Training Awards (CIRTA). These fellowships are valued at $70,000 CAD per year for two years and are designed to attract outstanding researchers from outside Canada. The program supports research in a range of priority areas, including fluid mechanics, advanced digital technologies (AI, quantum, cybersecurity), health and biotechnology, clean technology, environment and climate resilience, food and water security, democratic and community resilience, manufacturing and advanced materials, and defence and dual-use technologies.

Applicants must not currently be affiliated with a Canadian institution and must not have previously held postdoctoral-level funding from the Canadian tri-agencies (CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC). Each CIRTA nomination requires a faculty nominator and a nominee (the incoming postdoctoral fellow). Faculties at UBC have been allocated a number of CIRTA awards and are responsible for selecting their nominees. The application process involves contacting a faculty member in your research area, preparing a nomination package, and submitting it to the relevant faculty by the deadline of February 24, 2026. The CIRTA awards must be activated by March 31, 2027.
