About this position

Örebro University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in medicine with a specialization in neuropsychology for a fixed-term position at the Department of Medical Sciences. The research environment, Responsive Nutrition, is an interdisciplinary initiative focused on developing and validating methods and models to assess the benefits of food and dietary supplements for gut, metabolic, and mental health, and to determine who benefits from specific dietary changes throughout life. The group integrates these tools with applications in gut, metabolic, and mental health, aiming for sustainably produced food with health benefits to become the consumer's first choice. The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in planning, conducting, analyzing, interpreting, and disseminating results from studies related to human dietary interventions, with a particular emphasis on cognitive function and the application of functional brain imaging. Responsibilities include developing and validating new paradigms for functional brain imaging and methods to study autonomic nervous system function, ensuring compatibility with MR environments. The Department of Medical Sciences at Örebro University is a modern, expanding institution with approximately 1,600 staff and 17,000 students, and is home to the university's medical education and several strong research groups focused on inflammation, metabolism, and nutrition. Responsive Nutrition is a key research area within the interdisciplinary Centre for Food and Health. The postdoctoral position is intended to help early-career researchers consolidate and develop their scientific skills. The initial contract is for two years, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The university applies individual salary negotiation. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in a relevant field at the time of employment, preferably awarded within the last three years, and must not have previously held a postdoctoral position in the same subject and at the same institution for more than one year. Experience in planning and conducting analyses of functional brain imaging with MR, especially in human dietary intervention studies, and research experience in neuropsychology are highly valued. Good proficiency in English and Swedish is advantageous. The university values openness, responsibility, engagement, and respect, and actively promotes equal opportunities and diversity. Applications must be submitted via the university's website and include a personal letter, CV, description of scientific merits, copies of relevant degrees/certificates, and up to ten scientific publications. Only documents in Swedish, English, Norwegian, or Danish will be considered. The application deadline is November 7, 2025.
