About this position

A 2-year postdoctoral position is available at the Molecular Sciences Institute of Marseille (ISM2), hosted within IM2B at Aix-Marseille Université, France. The research focuses on understanding how gut bacteria respond to complex environments, particularly the integration of multiple environmental signals with a focus on antimicrobial peptides (AMPs). The project aims to elucidate the mechanisms by which commensal bacteria in the gut sense and integrate these signals, which is crucial for understanding bacterial adaptation and resistance.

The successful candidate will join the interdisciplinary Biosciences team, which brings together expertise in chemistry, biology, and biophysics. The project will be led by Junior Professor Chair Sophie Tronnet, an early-career group leader who fosters a collaborative and innovative research environment. The research will employ multidisciplinary techniques including -omics, Tn-seq, molecular biology, and biochemistry. Experience or knowledge in bioinformatics, proteomics, and metabolomics is highly valued.

Applicants must have a PhD in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related field, with a strong background in bacterial physiology and molecular mechanisms. Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are required. The position offers a gross monthly salary between €3131 and €4806 for a full-time, 24-month contract. The application deadline is 9th February 2026. The ISM2 institute provides a dynamic and supportive environment for cutting-edge research in the life sciences.
