The Bart Lab, recently relocated to the Plant and Microbial Biology department at the University of California, Berkeley, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher. The lab is part of the Plant Gene Expression Center and the Innovative Genomics Institute, focusing on molecular, genetic, and genomic aspects of plant-microbe interactions in crop species. Research areas include molecular biology, microbiology, plant genetics, plant pathology, computational biology, bacteriology, and virology. The successful candidate will work on projects involving genome and epigenome editing to increase disease resistance in crops such as tomato, cotton, and cassava, as well as bacterial and viral pathogens, using diverse model systems.

Applicants should have recently completed or be about to complete a PhD in one or more of the relevant disciplines. The lab values candidates who are eager to learn and fill knowledge gaps, as postdoctoral training will provide additional expertise as needed. The position is expected to begin no later than summer 2026.
