About this position
The Theory Group for Flat and Strange Quantum Matter at Leiden University, led by Prof. Louk Rademaker, is inviting applications for a three-year postdoctoral researcher position in Theoretical Quantum Matter Physics. The research will focus on advanced topics in condensed matter theory, including heavy fermion physics, concealed Mott criticality, strange metals, and unconventional superconductivity. The group is particularly interested in the study of twisted bilayer graphene, rhombohedral graphene, and transition-metal dichalcogenide bilayers, which are at the forefront of quantum materials research.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant research environment within the Lorentz Institute for Theoretical Physics, collaborating on projects that explore the fundamental properties of moiré materials and quantum matter. The position encourages initiative, with candidates welcome to propose their own research directions within the broad themes of quantum condensed matter theory. The group values diversity and encourages applications from women, minorities, and underrepresented groups.
Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Theoretical Quantum Matter Physics by the start date, possess excellent English communication skills, and demonstrate a willingness to engage in discussions and learn new techniques. The postdoctoral researcher will also participate in teaching activities as part of their role.
