About this position
The University of Neuchâtel invites applications for a postdoctoral position (60% work time) in strategic management, joining the Chair of Strategic Management led by Professor Claudia Jonczyk within the Institute of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business. The position is set to begin on August 1, 2026, and offers a dynamic environment for research, teaching, and academic service.
Research and Teaching Responsibilities: The successful candidate will collaborate on research projects with the team, publish findings in top-tier academic journals, present at international conferences, and assist in writing grant requests. The role also includes teaching 6 ECTS per year in (strategic) management (equivalent to 2 hours per week during the semester) and supervising bachelor and master theses. Additional responsibilities include contributing to the visibility and reputation of the institute through scientific outreach and participation in academic networks, as well as supporting institutional development.
Candidate Profile: Applicants must have a PhD in Management, Behavioral Science, Economics, or a related discipline, obtained within the last three years. Interest in the Chair’s research topics—networks and networking, social capital, expatriates, and geopolitics—is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in an academic environment. Teaching experience is an asset, as is an excellent command of English (oral and written); knowledge of French and/or German is advantageous. Strong publication potential, evidenced by publications or research in revision, is expected.
Funding and Conditions: The position offers a salary of 94,000 to 99,000 CHF (for 100% employment; pro-rated for 60%), with a contract duration of three years (renewable after the first and second year). The University of Neuchâtel provides an excellent working environment, modern infrastructure, and a vibrant city with rich sports and cultural offerings. The university is highly international, with about 4,500 students from over 100 nationalities, and is ideally located between Geneva and Zürich, offering an idyllic setting for high-level research.
Application Process: Interested candidates should submit a statement of interest, CV, copies of diplomas with grade transcripts, a representative scientific work as first author (e.g., working paper), and GMAT or GRE scores if available. Applications should be uploaded via the official application form. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. The University of Neuchâtel is committed to non-discriminatory working conditions.
