About this position

The Wireless Neural Implants Team at the Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences (Université de Grenoble) is recruiting two postdoctoral researchers to develop innovative technologies and therapies for restoring damaged neural circuits. The research is part of the MAJESTIC and REVERSE projects, in partnership with CERMAV and ESIEE Paris, and focuses on the impact of electrical stimulation on gene expression and neural regeneration in the central nervous system. The work involves using multi-electrode neural implants (rigid, flexible, or adaptive) to study inflammation, gene expression, and axonal regrowth in mouse visual circuits, specifically targeting the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) and visual cortex.

Key research areas include in vivo electrophysiology, RNA sequencing analysis, immunohistochemistry, and the use of biotechnologies and neurotechnologies for neural repair. Candidates will collaborate with technicians and other postdocs, optimize instrumentation for implant surgeries, and present their findings at national and international conferences. The project may also involve collaboration with the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) to study electrode-tissue interfaces.

Applicants should have strong experience in in vivo electrophysiology, proficiency in coding and data analysis (preferably Python), and excellent communication skills in English. Experience with acute recordings, optic nerve injury models, chronic device implantation, and molecular analysis is highly valued. The contract is for two years, with possible extension. Applications must include two letters of recommendation and be sent to Dr. Clément Hébert at [email protected]. For more details, visit the GIN website.
