About this position

Academica Group is recruiting a remote, part-time researcher for a project on how employment outcomes vary across post-secondary fields of study. The project title is “Skill, fields, or both? Explaining the field of study employment premium”, and the work is based in Canada with a fully remote arrangement.

The role is especially relevant for candidates interested in Education, Economics, Sociology, and Statistics, with a strong emphasis on quantitative research, labour market outcomes, and postsecondary education. The successful applicant will analyze PIAAC data, conduct literature reviews, draft sections of a policy report, and contribute to knowledge mobilization outputs such as a policy brief, accessible article, or academic manuscript draft.

This opportunity is ideal for an upper-year PhD student, recent PhD graduate, or postdoctoral fellow with strong skills in Stata, experience with complex survey data, and familiarity with regression analysis. Required methods include ordinary least squares and binary/multinomial logistic regression, plus clear and reproducible documentation. Preferred experience includes working with PIAAC, LISA, or similar large-scale survey datasets and research on employment, skills, and labour markets.

The position is a contract role for approximately 15 hours per week for 24 weeks (April 2026 to October 2026). Compensation is $60/hour, inclusive of 4% vacation pay. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, so early submission is encouraged.

To apply, email a cover letter, academic CV, sample of sole-authored writing or analysis, a syntax file from a previous project, and contact information for two references to [email protected] with “Researcher” in the subject line.
