About this position

The University of Luxembourg, a modern and international research university, is offering the SIGCOM Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025 within its Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT). The SIGCOM group at SnT is renowned for its research in secure, reliable, and trustworthy ICT systems and services, and is seeking outstanding early-career postdoctoral researchers or PhD students nearing completion to apply for the prestigious MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship 2025. Academic supervision will be provided by Professors Symeon Chatzinotas and Eva Lagunas.

Research topics for this fellowship include Beyond 5G Wireless Communication Systems, Non-Terrestrial Communication Systems, Intelligent Open Radio Access Networks, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, Access-Edge-Cloud Telecom Network Slicing, Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, Joint Communication and Sensing, Software Defined Networks, Network Virtualisation, Network Infrastructure Sharing, Routing Strategies, Network Performance Monitoring, ML/AI-Based Network Performance Prediction and Resource Provisioning, Quantum Communications, and Optical Communications. Eligibility requirements include a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Telecommunications and Computer Science, proven research experience in relevant areas, expertise in convex/non-convex optimization, signal processing, programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python, and strong communication skills. MSCA eligibility further requires a maximum of 8 years of research experience since the first PhD, compliance with the mobility rule (not residing or working in Luxembourg for more than 12 months in the past 36 months), and only one proposal per individual. Secondments may comprise up to one-third of the fellowship duration.

The position is a fixed-term contract for 36 months, full-time (40 hours per week), located at the Kirchberg Campus. The annual gross salary for postdoctoral researchers is EUR 83,099. Required expertise includes convex/non-convex optimization, signal processing, general communications background, and programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python, as well as strong writing and oral presentation skills. For MSCA eligibility, candidates must have a maximum of 8 years of research experience since their first PhD (with possible deductions for career breaks), must not have resided or carried out their main activity in Luxembourg for more than 12 months in the 36 months immediately before recruitment, and only one proposal per individual can be submitted. Secondments can take up to one-third of the fellowship duration.
