Postdoctoral Position in Molecular Biology, Evolution, and Physiology of Ant Colonies at University of Cambridge

The Social Fluids Lab at the University of Cambridge, led by Associate Professor Adria LeBoeuf, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a 4-year, BBSRC-funded project. The research focuses on investigating metabolic cooperation between bodies in ant colonies, exploring the molecular mechanisms that enable resource packaging, export, and reuse across individuals in social insects. The project aims to uncover how different ant lineages use these mechanisms to address various biological challenges related to evolution, aging, metabolism, and sociality. This interdisciplinary position combines gene editing, multi-omics approaches, and fieldwork in locations such as Madagascar and Florida. The successful candidate will join a creative and collaborative lab culture within the Department of Zoology at Cambridge, benefiting from a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment.
