PhD Fellowship in Polymer Science and Applied Chemistry (Polymer Crystallization)

A fully funded PhD fellowship is available in the "Applied Chemistry and Polymeric Materials" program at the Faculty of Chemistry, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), in collaboration with POLYMAT and the Dutch Polymer Institute (DPI). The position is supervised by Prof. Alejandro J Müller (POLYMAT, Spain) and Prof. Dario Cavallo (University of Genoa, Italy), with the successful candidate spending 50% of their time in San Sebastián, Spain, and 50% in Genoa, Italy. The research focuses on experimental investigations of nucleation, crystallization, structure, and properties of nucleated polypropylenes, with hands-on experience in polymer extrusion, rheology, crystallization kinetics, and morphology being highly valued. Applicants must hold a BSc in Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Physics, and an MSc in a relevant discipline such as Polymer Physics, Polymer Chemistry, or Polymer Engineering. Excellent written and spoken English is required. The fellowship is fully funded for four years, contingent on performance, and offers the opportunity to work at leading European centers of excellence in polymer science. The candidate is expected to conduct experimental research, write papers, deliver seminars, and complete a PhD thesis. To apply, candidates should prepare a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV, a short description of previous research (1-2 pages), and contact details of two academic referees. Applications should be sent to [email protected] and [email protected] by February 20, 2026. More details and application instructions are provided in the attached PDF. This is an excellent opportunity for motivated students interested in polymer science, polymer crystallization, and advanced materials research.
