PhD Program in Agricultural and Environmental Science at Germany-CGIAR++ Science and Impact Hub

The Germany-CGIAR++ Science and Impact Hub, commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), is a collaborative platform connecting German scientific excellence with the international CGIAR++ centers. The Hub is hosted at the CIFOR-ICRAF office in Bonn and operates in partnership with the Council for Tropical and Subtropical Agricultural Research (ATSAF e.V.). The Hub's mission is to strengthen ties between German universities, research institutions, and CGIAR++ centers worldwide, fostering impactful research, training, and policy solutions. Through its joint PhD and Junior Scientists programs, the Hub supports and empowers the next generation of impact-oriented researchers. Participants benefit from hands-on experience, mentorship, interdisciplinary training, and direct alignment with global development goals such as the SDGs and the Paris Climate Agreement. Funding for the program consists of a scholarship of EUR 1,800 per month for three years, with a possible 12-month extension. Additionally, a research grant of EUR 25,000 may be requested for project-related research.
