PhD in Large Language Models for Next-Generation Intelligent Networking at Harokopio University of Athens
The Department of Informatics & Telematics at Harokopio University of Athens is offering a PhD opportunity focused on the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) in next-generation intelligent networking. The research aims to explore how LLMs can transform the design, control, and management of modern communication networks, including cloud, edge, wireless, and software-defined infrastructures.
The PhD project will develop novel frameworks that enable natural-language interaction with network systems, supporting advanced reasoning for network planning, configuration, optimization, and security. Key research directions include LLM-assisted network design, natural-language-driven configuration, multi-agent and multi-modal LLM systems for management and optimization, explainable and trustworthy AI-native networking architectures, and domain-adapted LLMs for cloud, IoT, and future 5G/6G systems.
Applicants should have an MSc in Computer Science, Networking, Telecommunications, AI, or a related field, with programming experience and a strong interest in AI-native networking systems. The position is not funded, but offers access to a vibrant research environment, modern networking testbeds, Smart Campus infrastructure, and opportunities for professional development and collaboration in ongoing projects.
To apply, interested candidates should send their CV to [email protected] for further information about requirements, research topics, and the application process. This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence and networking to contribute to cutting-edge research in a supportive academic setting.
