PhD in Marine Cybernetics and AI Modeling for Ship Dynamics at NTNU

The Department of Marine Technology (IMT) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) is offering a fully funded PhD position in Marine Cybernetics, focusing on AI modeling for the prediction of waves and sea loads on ships. The successful candidate will join the new Maritime AI Centre, the world’s first research center dedicated to maritime artificial intelligence. The research will involve developing foundational AI models for wave prediction and sea load estimation, building an AI-gym for model training, and creating AI-based decision support frameworks for ship operability and mission planning. The project is supervised by Professor Roger Skjetne and is part of a multidisciplinary team at the forefront of maritime research and AI innovation.
