Laboratory Technician Position in Molecular Biology and Translational Medicine at McGill University
The Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at McGill University, led by Associate Professor Sabrina Daniela Silva Wurzba, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join their research team at the Lady Davis Institute - Segal Cancer Center. The position focuses on supporting projects in molecular biology, HPV-related cancers, and translational medicine. The successful candidate will be involved in DNA, RNA, and protein extractions, PCR/qPCR, gel electrophoresis, and other standard molecular assays. Responsibilities also include clinical sample collection, processing, biobanking, cell culture support (optional), sample tracking, documentation, and general laboratory maintenance.
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field, with practical experience in core molecular biology techniques. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team are essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with human biological samples, familiarity with BSL-2 procedures, prior experience in translational or clinical research, and basic skills in data organization or lab management software.
