Fully Funded PhD Positions in Geochemistry, Sediment-Hosted Mineral Systems, and Critical Raw Materials at University College Dublin

The iCRAG Research Ireland Centre for Applied Geosciences, hosted by University College Dublin (UCD), is offering three fully funded PhD positions as part of the new research programme, “Metals for a Green Ireland.” These positions are embedded within Professor Sarah Gleeson’s research group and focus on sediment-hosted mineral systems, geochemistry, and the critical raw materials essential for the green and digital transitions. The available PhD projects include: Fe isotopes in sediment-hosted Zn deposits, lithogeochemistry of the Irish Orefield, and Cu–Zn mineralising systems at Ballywire. The research is highly relevant to sustainable resource development and the study of green metals, aligning with global priorities for a sustainable future. The successful candidates will join a dynamic team at the UCD School of Earth Sciences, working on cutting-edge topics in geochemistry, mineral exploration, and critical materials.
