Limited Term Faculty Position in Criminology, Law, and Social Policy at Bishop’s University

The Department of Sociology at Bishop’s University is seeking applications for a full-time, 24-month limited term faculty position in the area of Criminology, Law, and Social Policy, starting July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community in the Eastern Townships, southeast of Montreal, and will be expected to teach three courses per semester (fall and winter), participate in departmental meetings and committees, and maintain an active research program. The ability to teach research methods is considered an asset but is not required. Applicants must have a PhD (or be nearing completion) in a relevant field, a demonstrated history of teaching excellence, and an active research program in criminology, law, or social policy. Candidates must also be legally eligible to work in Canada as of the start date. Bishop’s University values dynamic and effective teaching, experiential learning, and research and knowledge mobilization. The institution is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion, encouraging applications from women, visible minorities, ethnic minorities, Indigenous and disabled people, and offers accommodation during the selection process. Application packages should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research and teaching interests, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three references. All materials must be submitted by March 16, 2026, via email to the administrative assistant to the Dean of Social Sciences, Monetta Gallichon, at [email protected]. For more information about Bishop’s University and the Department of Sociology, visit www.ubishops.ca . This position offers an excellent opportunity for scholars specializing in criminology, law, and social policy to contribute to a collegial and research-active department. The university prioritizes Canadian citizens and permanent residents in accordance with immigration requirements, but all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
