Bio-based wood adhesives

The BioGlue Center at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, in collaboration with SLU, LnU, and 12 industry partners, is offering a postdoctoral position focused on the molecular understanding of adhesion mechanisms in bio-based wood adhesives. The center aims to become a world-leading research environment by advancing knowledge in raw materials and formulations, adhesive properties, and sustainability for wood glues. The successful candidate will conduct research involving adhesion measurements at various length scales, from molecular interactions to the evaluation of glue joints between wood-based materials. The role includes synthesis and modification of molecules, supported by advanced laboratory equipment and a collaborative team of experts. Applicants should have a strong background in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and surface chemistry, with additional experience in biopolymers, pulp/paper technology, or soft materials considered advantageous. The position is full-time, based in Stockholm, and offers a monthly salary for up to two years, along with relocation assistance. The research environment is international, dynamic, and committed to sustainability, diversity, and gender equality. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in a relevant field, demonstrate fluency in scientific English, and possess strong skills in summarizing research results. Applications should include a CV, copies of diplomas and grades (with translations if necessary), and a brief statement of research interests and goals. The application deadline is October 31, 2025.
