About this position
Centrale Nantes, a leading French engineering institution, is offering two MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships for 2026. The university is renowned for its excellence in Ocean Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and sustainability, consistently ranking among the top globally and nationally. Successful candidates will join a world-class research environment with access to cutting-edge facilities and personalized support for their research proposals.
The fellowships are available for two innovative research themes:
- Theme 1: Advanced Numerical Simulations in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Fluid-Structure Interaction for Naval Hydroacoustics (LHEEA Lab)
Focuses on using advanced numerical simulations to understand and mitigate Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) from shipping, aiming to protect marine ecosystems. The project involves multiphysics coupling (CFD, FSI), hydroacoustics, high-performance computing, and machine learning for real-time noise estimation. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in fluid mechanics and computational fluid dynamics. Supervisor: Dr. Laetitia Pernod. - Theme 2: Robotic High-Throughput Binder Jetting for Large-Scale Manufacturing (GeM Lab)
Centers on developing an AI-augmented CAD/CAM framework for low-energy robotic binder-jetting systems dedicated to large-scale sand mold fabrication. The research includes 6-axis robot trajectory optimization, multi-scale geometric modeling, and life-cycle assessment to support low-carbon design strategies. Candidates should have expertise in CAD/CAM, robotic manufacturing, and/or computational design. Supervisor: Dr. Tugdual Le Neel.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by September 9th, 2026, and have no more than 8 years of research experience. The MSCA mobility rule applies: candidates must not have resided or worked in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to the deadline. Essential skills include fluency in English, a strong academic track record, and team spirit.
Funding & Benefits: The fellowship offers a competitive salary of approximately €6,000 per month (fully loaded cost), a mobility allowance (€710/month), and a family allowance (€660/month) if applicable. Additional benefits include flexible teleworking, 75% transport reimbursement, and sustainable mobility bonuses for cycling or car-pooling.
Application Process: Submit your application in English to [email protected]. Applications must include a detailed CV with a list of publications and a proposal outlining your project idea based on Theme 1 or 2. The call is open to all, and Centrale Nantes is committed to equality and diversity. For more information or to apply online, visit academicpositions.com.
Deadline: Applications must be submitted by September 9th, 2026.
