Amgen is seeking exceptional early-career scientists for the Amgen Science Fellow program, an independent research opportunity in computational biology, artificial intelligence, and advanced computing. This unique postdoctoral-level position is designed for recent Ph.D. graduates who wish to establish their own research programs at the intersection of drug discovery, computational biology, AI, and emerging computational paradigms such as quantum computing. Fellows will develop and apply advanced computational methods to address foundational challenges in biology, chemistry, and therapeutic discovery, with areas of interest including machine learning for biological inference, molecular design, systems biology, and hybrid AI–physics–based modeling.

The program provides resources and guidance from a distinguished mentoring committee, enabling fellows to pursue creative and independent research in both basic and translational science. Amgen offers state-of-the-art research facilities and a collaborative, innovative environment focused on serving patients with serious illnesses. Fellows are expected to initiate and manage independent projects, with technical support, and are encouraged to publish breakthrough discoveries.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in a computational or life sciences discipline and demonstrate research experience in computational biology, AI, and advanced computing. Preferred qualifications include a strong publication record, independent scientific vision, advanced machine learning skills, programming expertise, experience with large-scale biological datasets, and familiarity with high-performance computing. Leadership, communication skills, and curiosity about emerging technologies such as quantum computing are also valued.
