Applied Implementation Science Fellowship in Health Care Delivery (PhD/Postdoc) AcademyHealth in United States

The Applied Implementation Science Fellowship Program, hosted by AcademyHealth, is now accepting applications for the 2026–2028 cycle. This prestigious two-year fellowship is designed for early- and mid-career researchers working in US health care delivery systems who are interested in applying implementation science (IS) theory and methods to real-world health system research. Fellows will be paired with expert IS mentors and will have the opportunity to build a strong foundation for impactful work across a range of clinical topics.

Four fellows will be selected for this cohort, each expected to complete an individual IS research project focused on one of the following therapeutic areas: bone health/osteoporosis, severe uncontrolled asthma (with or without COPD), thyroid eye disease, or IgG4-related conditions. The program offers a generous stipend of $150,000 per year, which covers salary, travel, and project costs. In addition to financial support, fellows will benefit from mentorship, virtual sessions, webinars, courses, and conference participation, including events organized by AcademyHealth. Networking opportunities, dissemination support, and AcademyHealth membership are also included.

Eligibility requirements include holding an MD, DO, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent degree, and having a permanent role in a US health care delivery system. Applicants must demonstrate interest in one or more of the specified therapeutic areas. Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this fellowship.
