The Oslo National Academy of the Arts (KHiO) invites applications for a three-year, full-time artistic PhD research fellowship in dance/choreography, focusing on the project "Choreographing Anti-Fascism" led by Professor Bojana Cvejić. KHiO is a leading institution in Norway, comprising six departments—Art and Craft, Dance, Design, Fine Art, Opera, and Theatre—offering a vibrant, multidisciplinary environment for artistic research and practice at the highest international level.

The PhD program in artistic research at KHiO is designed to foster innovative, practice-based research that produces new works of art, performance, and design, as well as new disciplinary knowledge and perspectives on art, culture, and society. Artistic practice is central to the PhD, accompanied by explicit reflection to share insights and working methods with the wider community. KHiO is part of the Norwegian Artistic Research School, providing doctoral training in artistic research methods, and expects fellows to participate fully in both institutional and national research communities.

The "Choreographing Anti-Fascism" project brings together dancers, artists, and activists to exchange practices of antifascist collectivity in response to far-right policies and societal attitudes. The research investigates choreographic and activist know-how in collaboration, commoning, self-organization, and solidarity, exploring intersections between theater, gallery, and political action, as well as historical and contemporary practices. The project aims to produce a collection of contextually annotated choreographic scores and performance scripts for use by performers and citizens. The working language is English, and the project is embedded in both the Dance and Fine Art departments, with international collaborations.

Applicants should be choreographers with studio practice and professional experience in producing mid-scale group performances, including for theater stages and public spaces. Candidates must demonstrate interest and competence in artistic research on collectivity, involving both professionals and non-professionals, and have broad knowledge of score-based practices. Extensive collaborative experience, pedagogical skills in teaching experimental workshops, and experience supervising master's-level students are required. The successful candidate's research interests and methods will contribute to the overall project.

Employment is contingent upon admission to the PhD program in artistic research at KHiO. The position offers a starting salary of NOK 550,800 per annum before tax, with automatic progression and pension benefits, and is governed by Norwegian university employment regulations. The workplace is at KHiO in Oslo.
