This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Expertise in advanced cell culture techniques, genetic engineering of mammalian cells, biochemistry, specifically splicing analysis, metabolism-especially analysis of mitochondrial function, and animal models of cancer. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.Responsibilities may include Investigation of the role of splicing factors in hematologic malignancy and normal hematopoietic cells with a focus on PINK1 regulation by metabolic function. Responsibilities include short and long-term planning of experiments, conceptual development of experimental goals in collaboration with the PI, execution and interpretation of experiments, establishing collaborations with other scientists at Penn and outside institutions, writing and editing of manuscripts, and presenting data at outside meetings, and writing pilot grants.The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further develop critical experimental models, develop and test new hypotheses, and perform ground work for preclinical studies that will support an RO1 application by the PI. Opportunities also to present at international symposia and scientific meetings and to publish new findings in high tier scientific journals.Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years postdoctoral experience working in the area of hematologic malignancies and intracellular signaling mechanisms.We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense.
