About this position

The University of Oulu, a leading multidisciplinary and international research university in Finland, is seeking a Doctoral Researcher to join the Research Unit for Languages and Literature, English, within the Faculty of Humanities. This position is part of the Eudaimonia Institute’s funded project, 'Multiliteracy Expertise in Future Working Life: Interaction and Coexistence of Humans and Language-based AI Systems (MultiHAI)'. The successful candidate will conduct applied linguistic research focused on multiliteracy expertise in contemporary working life, particularly examining the interaction and coexistence of humans and language-based AI systems.

Responsibilities include managing project-related tasks and collaborating within a multidisciplinary research team. The role is fixed-term for three years, starting January 1, 2026 (or as agreed), with a starting gross salary of approximately 2500-2800 € per month, based on Finnish university salary scales and personal performance. Applicants must hold a completed Master's degree in English language studies before employment begins and demonstrate a qualitative research orientation, experience handling relevant data, and strong English communication skills. Additional assets include Finnish language skills, experience in interaction or discourse analysis, and familiarity with video-recorded or multimodal discourse data.
